For walkers there is the famous Speyside Way. The Speyside Way is the officially designated Long Distance Route
which links Buckie on the Moray Coast with Aviemore in Strathspey, with spurs to Dufftown and Tomintoul - a total distance
of 84 miles. The route offers mainly easy walking on low ground (a mixture of seashore, river valley, old railway and
moorland), and is clearly marked throughout with the national LDR Logo - (thistle in a hexagon). However, it should be
noted that the Tomintoul Spur climbs to 1800ft twice, and to very exposed locations. Walkers should make sure that they
carry suitable clothing for all weather conditions.
Whilst the route is mainly intended for walkers, cyclists are allowed to use the Speyside Way between Fochabers
and Ballindalloch, between Craigaellachie and Dufftown, and between Nethy Bridge and Aviemore.
